The Peace and Justice Committee of St. Thomas of Villanova and
Our Mother of Good Counsel Parishes

Mission Statement:

To provide education informed by the social teaching of the Church, so that parishioners may become more aware of the injustices both in our local community and throughout the world, and to be a catalyst for change by sponsoring outreach and advocacy.

Bread for the World Offering of Letters Update from the Peace and Justice Committee
St. Thomas of Villanova parish sent 300 letters to Senators in June during our annual offering of letters advocacy campaign.  We asked them for their support in making our nation's foreign assistance efforts more streamlined and effective.

At the time of the planning of our campaign, there was no specific legislative action to address.  Since that time, The House Foreign Affairs Committee is considering H.R. 2139, The Initiating Foreign Assistance Reform Act of 2009.  We are urging you at this time to contact your representative to urge him/her to cosponsor HR 2139-The Initiating Foreign Assistance Reform Act of 2009 for the following reasons stated in the sample letter below.  If you do not know your representative's name, you may find this on www.bread.org
